Across the hire sector, franchising is extremely popular and successful. Here we

Vehicle Hire
In the vehicle hire sector, our customers include one of the world’s largest Car
and Van operators.
Across the EU, it’s estimated that annually, 55 to 60 million-rental transactions
that take place. In fact, Euromonitor estimated that €8.1 billion of car rental
revenues were generated in Europe alone during 2009, with the UK contributing 15%
of that figure.
During the same year, Euromonitor estimated that the car rental industry employed
a combined fleet of approximately 1.1 million vehicles. That equals a lot of operational
print and even more marketing collateral.
The operating environment has been tough; historically Growth has been closely tied
to the level of general economic activity. The car hire sector is also under increasing
pressure for its perceived contribution toward climate change. Does the car hire
sector have a responsibility?
In response, companies like Hertz have a Green Collection of vehicles with low CO2
output and high fuel efficiency. But could companies operate in a more environmentally
conscious way?

With its links to the construction industry, the Plant & Equipment Hire sector has
experienced extremely hard trading conditions and three years of decline. Operators
have seen continued downward pressure on hire rates, intensified price competition
and a squeezing of profit margins.
Yet can we the green shoots of recovery finally be seen?
Research in December 2010 indicated that there would be modest growth for the plant
sector to 2014, forecasting initial growth from private sector civil engineering
with the development of utility and infrastructure projects.
