Attention Print Buyers

Once, there was a time when every large organisation would have
a specialist print buyer. These individuals would normally have
gained extensive print industry experience during years of being
solely responsible for the print
procurement of their organisation. They would know print
management inside and out.
Changing Print
Management
But organisations now aim to
centralise their procurement functions, resulting in print
management becoming one of many loosely related procurement
areas handled by one individual. In many cases, this individual is
a procurement professional. In other organisations the
responsibility for print
management may be split between a number of different
departments, the obvious example being Marketing.
Print
Management specialists
Whether a Procurement
person or a Marketing person, print is no longer the sole focus of
this individual’s day and consequently their knowledge base.
They are not print
management specialists.
besley & copp, on the other hand are print
management specialists. In fact as the country’s 3rd
oldest print company there really aren’t many who know more
about print. We recognised this change in print buying several
years ago. These new print buyers needed a trusted partner, who had
a depth of knowledge (260 years in our case) that they could call
upon.
Serving Procurement Professionals
It is
sometimes argued that procurement professionals have different
priorities and behaviour from the traditional print buyer.
Procurement is about process, control, variable reduction and the
attainment of value.
Understanding this, we used our knowledge of print and of
technology to develop an eProcurement solution that would serve the
needs of procurement. Called eSP, our
‘cloud’ based solution gives an organisation:
• Control across a wide range of supplies
• Geographical control on spending
• Aggregated company-wide spending
• Reduced central administration costs
Serving Marketing Professionals
Other
organisations, print
procurement may fall under the remit of Marketing.
Marketing professionals, often-younger in junior roles, are
expected to handle print
procurement as part of an already busy and stressful role.
Print is not a Marketers core focus, it's therefore important that
an external print
management resource can become a seamless extension to their
team.
Getting the right price is important, but Marketers are also
concerned about brand consistency. Brand management becomes
increasingly important across a geographically spread organisation.
So eSP has been
designed to help marketers:
• Control brand integrity
• Ensure consistent communication
• Regionalise and target marketing
